Based at its head office located in downtown Toronto, Northbridge is seeking a Corporate Counsel to join its legal team. The legal team works closely together to support business groups by identifying risks and providing practical solutions and advice on a variety of business and operational matters. You will work with energetic and highly motivated professionals in various business groups, including procurement, IT, broker management and human resources. Some specific responsibilities will include reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts, including IT contracts, and providing legal support in other areas such as corporate secretarial and regulatory/compliance matters. You will report to the Assistant General Counsel, and will have the opportunity to work with and learn from other experienced lawyers in the group.
The ideal candidate will have 2 –3 years of corporate/commercial experience gained in a leading law firm or corporation. In addition, experience in commercial IT and privacy would be an asset although training will be provided where needed. Strong communication, drafting and negotiating skills, as well as being a team player and possessing a high degree of integrity, will be important. Finally, sound business judgment, a willingness to learn and strong client service orientation in dealing with internal and external clients are essential to success in this position.
