- Provide guidance, advice and support to a diverse range of operating units across Economical’s businesses
- Contribute to ongoing legal risk management initiatives conducted by our growing Legal Department
- Research, analyze and interpret insurance, financial services and other regulatory guidance and legislation
- Interface with regulatory agencies and other external stakeholders
- Work collaboratively as part of broader organizational project teams
- Be called on to consult with other members of our Legal team and be a primary resource for our Enterprise Risk and Compliance staff, and Ombudsperson and Privacy operations
- Report directly to General Counsel
What do you bring to the role?
- At least 5 years of business law, privacy and compliance experience gained in an in-house corporate environment or a well-respected law firm
- Industry experience gained from an insurance company or other financial institution will be of particular interest, including experience with privacy, advertising/marketing, and insurance operations
- Technically strong and practical approach
- Familiarity with on-line business models and digital marketing
- Excellent communication, research and drafting skills, including the capacity to communicate with clients in the way they want to be dealt with
- Outstanding judgment
- Ability to perform under pressure, work independently, meet deadlines and skillfully handle multiple, and sometimes conflicting, priorities
- Exemplary professionalism and integrity
- Willingness to build strong client relationships
