The Legal Clinic of Guelph and Wellington County is a small and innovative community legal clinic funded by Legal Aid Ontario. We provide summary legal advice and legal representationfor low-income residents of Guelph and Wellington County, in various areas of poverty law including tenant rights, income security, and workers’ rights. We also engage in many community outreach projects and law reform activities. Our Clinic provides the unique opportunity to practice in both an urban and rural settingthrough our main office which is located in downtown Guelph and by working on our Law Van, a mobile outreach clinic program that operates throughout Wellington County. Our Clinic is seeking a Staff Lawyer to join our team on a permanent position. This is an entry level Staff Lawyer position and new calls are encouraged to apply. The anticipated start date isFebruary 2024. Qualifications include:  Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario; Strong oral and written advocacy skills; Commitment to social justice and poverty law issues; Experience providing access to justice and/or working with low income/marginalized populations;  Experience and/or knowledge of administrative law (Housing and Social Assistance) is a strong asset The salary for the position is $73,000 per year along with comprehensive health and dental benefits, subject to waiting period and contribution, 15 days’ vacation and an employer sponsored RRSP contribution. The Staff Lawyer is expected to attend at the Clinic or the Law Van on a daily basis and to be available for events and activities within the community. Access to a vehicle with suitable insurance and a valid driver’s license is required.
